SC: At the moment you are one of the most famous female dj's in the world of electronic dance music scene, how do you feel ?
SHINEDOE: Nice that people see me that why. I appreciate it a lot!
SC: You don't get tired of playing at all?
SHINEDOE: Not at all, I love to play! If people enjoy it, I enjoy it too.
SC: You first started as dancer , it is more difficult to dance or to make people dance?
SHINEDOE: The difference is that I make people dance with the the music I select, that goes more deeper for me than only dancing.
SC: Would you ever change your hometown, and move to some place else?
SHINEDOE: I don't know. I love Amsterdam, because I am born there and it's so multi cultural. Besides that have my family and friends here. Of course there are some lovely places in the world, so I never say never :-)
SC: How did you made your first track? Was it hard, or someone else helped you?
SHINEDOE: I made my first track with software and hardware. It wasn't hard because of my sound engineering studie in the mid nineties and also knowing what I want to hear in my productions.
SC: You have an African origin, do you use some sounds from your background in the music that you are making?
SHINEDOE: The rhythm and sounds I use is pure African origin, as I feel it, by creating it myself. In African music are no rules, just rhythm and soul.
SC: We see on the videos everywhere that you spin records, will you ever change them with MP3?
SHINEDOE: I also spin MP3's but on cd. So I play records and cd's.
SC: And what do you think about the digital formats, and final scratch etc..?
SHINEDOE: It's much easier to take with you, if you travel a lot. No hassle with missing records or other stuff. And it seems the mixing gets easier aswell. but for now I just use vinyl and CD.
I like to feel still what traditional deejaying is about :-)
SC: Do you agree with this situation that the electronic music became so hyper productive?
SHINEDOE: no comment
SC: Do you think that it is hard to make one crowd dance?
SHINEDOE: it doesn't depend only on the deejays, it's also the sound system, proper working turntables, lights, good atmosphere, good programming and friendly crew.
All this makes a good club night.
SC: Do you have a favorite place where you have played so far?
SHINEDOE: I have so many places I like: Berlin, Zurich, Spain, Italy etc,,
SC: And a place that you never played and you want to ?
SHINEDOE: (South )America, Africa, Canada, Alaska
SC: Can you tell us what are your favorite artists and tracks at the moment, of course if it's not a secret?
SHINEDOE: There are so many artists which make good tracks, but the steady ones are for me 2000 and One, Polder, Carl Craig, Dennis Ferrer, Kerri Chandler ..
SC: It will be your first time in Skopje, did someone mentioned something about our town and country and how do you feel about it?
SHINEDOE: Two months ago, my sister visited a friend there. She told me that it is a beautiful country and that the people are very friendly. I am really looking forward to visit Skopje.
Thanks for the interview.
Kind regards,
Shinedoe
