Skopje Clubbing: Hi Vaso, tell me when did you start Djing?
Vaso: Well let’s say I started Djing since the mid-90s, and more professionally I have been involved in Djing since 2000.
SC: What is your music style at the moment?
Vaso: Huh… The whole music scene is into minimal sound at the moment so I have also made myself accustomed to that. . So currently I am oriented towards minimal, mini-tech sounds, with some more dynamic minimal even though I am still attached to the techno sound but can hardly find any techno records that would suit my style nowadays.
SC: With which national and international DJs have you played so far?
Vaso: From the international DJs I will mention: Adam Bayer, Ritchie Hawtin, John Acquaviva, Cristian Smith, Danilo Vigorito, Gaetano Parrisio, Cj Bolland, Hippy- H-foundation… and many others.
SC: A lot of stars… What is the experience like to play with them?
Vaso: In any event, the feeling is great, stimulating me to be as good as them and hoping that I will reach their level.
SC: In relation to the Macedonian scene, are there any changes since the beginning of it?
Vaso: Of course there are changes. In the beginning, there were very few DJs, so after the first generation of DJs, I am part of the second generation of DJs, and in the meantime there were many DJs who tried to play in clubs and many of them succeeded and many did not. At the moment there is ‘expansion’ of DJs who play from laptops and CDs and DJs who are still playing on vinyl
SC: And do you like that…. How do you play your music?
Vaso: I combine vinyl with CDs (mainly promo tunes from Macedonian artists) and I have kept the vinyl as my basic source of music.
SC: There are many good artists in Macedonia at the moment. What is your opinion about them?
Vaso: I support them everlastingly. As I said, a big part of my DJ set consists of music from Macedonian artists, that is, everything that can be integral for my set. I have always been supportive of our music artists and I always will.
SC: Can you name one Macedonian artist you like or Macedonian music?
Vaso: There are many good tunes and it will be so ungrateful of me to name only one, as there are good tracks from Sound Diffusion, Monumental, Sash Recyd… there is excellent music being created at the moment and there will be more…
SC: What is the chance to hear anything you’ve produced in the nearest future?
Vaso: I hope so… I am now working on it and hope it will be in the very near future.
